October in Savannah and Statesboro

By Brandon Robinson

October in Georgia is nothing short of magical. With the summer heat gone and crisp breezes in the air, the region comes alive with festivals and spooky season charm. Savannah and Statesboro are both great places to explore during October, with each bringing a unique vibe to the season. Here’s your ultimate guide to fall events in Statesboro and Savannah, where music, traditions, and festivals take over every weekend.

Savannah: A Season of Culture and Celebration

Oktoberfest @ Plant Riverside District

Plant Riverside Oktoberfest Traditions

From October 4–19, the Oktoberfest at Plant Riverside District brings authentic German food, beer gardens, and live music to the heart of the waterfront. It's festive, walkable, and a highlight of fall when you visit Savannah.

Cultural Events and Seasonal Festivities

October 9–11 marks the return of the Savannah Greek Festival, serving up homemade Mediterranean cuisine, dancing, and shopping from 11a to 9p daily. At the same time, Tybee Island Pirate Festival (October 9–12) offers a quirky, family-friendly experience with parades, costumes, and coastal flair.

October 11 is packed with two standout events: Blues, Brews, BBQ & Bourbon at Eastern Wharf (12p–4p) and the Fall Fest at Westin Savannah (12:30p–5p), both offering live music and seasonal bites along the waterfront.

Old Town Trolley Tours

Ghost Tours and Haunted Legends

And of course, no October in Savannah is complete without diving into its haunted side. Regularly marked as one of America’s most haunted cities, Savannah is the place to experience spooky season in full. Dozens of ghost tours range from candlelit walks to chilling tours, especially at places like the Colonial Park Cemetery or Sorrel-Weed House
