Top June 2026 Events and Happenings in Savannah, Georgia

By Brandon Robinson

June is a lively time to visit Savannah. The city feels full of energy with events, outdoor activities, and longer sunny days. While the heat picks up, there are still plenty of ways to explore comfortably. From festivals to quiet scenic walks, Savannah offers something for every type of traveler.

Top June Events and Happenings

The Chemicals America Conference typically brings professionals from around the country to Savannah. It is usually hosted at the Savannah Convention Center and runs several days in mid-to-late June. While it is more industry-focused, it adds to the city’s overall buzz and activity.

For something more relaxed, Savannah Riverboat Cruises run daily along the Savannah River. Options include sightseeing tours, sunset cruises, and dinner cruises. Evening rides are especially popular in June thanks to cooler temperatures and great views of the waterfront skyline.

The First Friday in the Starland District is a must if you are in town early in the month. Held on the first Friday evening, this event features local art, food trucks, live music, and open galleries. It is one of the best ways to experience Savannah’s creative side.

Dog Days Fest brings indie, punk, rock, and alternative music to Savannah each June, centered around Starland Yard in the Starland District, with additional shows at nearby venues and an energetic, festival-style atmosphere.

On Flag Day (June 14), Fort Pulaski often offers free admission. It is a great chance to explore one of the area’s most historic sites without the usual entry fee. Walking the fort and surrounding grounds is both educational and scenic.

The Forsyth Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday morning in Forsyth Park. You will find fresh produce, baked goods, and local vendors. Going early helps you beat both the heat and the crowds.

A hop-on, hop-off trolley tour is another easy way to see the city. These tours run daily and stop at major landmarks. It is a great option for first-time visitors who want a guided overview without too much walking.

Live music is easy to find in June. Victory North and Plant Riverside District regularly host concerts and performances. Event schedules vary, so it is worth checking ahead for specific shows during your stay.

The Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival is one of the most meaningful events of the month. It celebrates African American culture through art, music, and community gatherings. Events are usually held across multiple days and locations.

For something completely unique, catch a Savannah Bananas baseball game at Grayson Stadium. These games are known for their fun atmosphere and entertainment that goes far beyond traditional baseball.

Scenic Walks Away from the Crowds

Savannah is known for its historic squares, but there are quieter places to explore if you want a break from busy areas.

Ardsley Park offers shaded streets, beautiful homes, and a peaceful neighborhood feel. It is perfect for a relaxed walk.

Daffin Park is another great option, with wide open green space and walking paths. It is popular with locals but still feels calm compared to downtown.

Bonaventure Cemetery is both scenic and historic. Its oak-lined paths and waterfront views make it one of the most unique places to walk in Savannah.

For a nature-focused outing, visit Oatland Island Wildlife Center or Wormsloe Historic Site. Wormsloe’s long oak avenue is especially iconic and worth seeing in person.

If you want coastal views, Tybee Island’s North Beach is quieter than other parts of the island. It is a great place for a slower-paced beach walk.

Tybee Island Day Trip

Tybee Island is just about 20–25 minutes from downtown Savannah, making it an easy day trip. June is perfect for a beach day, though it is best to go early to avoid peak heat.

North Beach is a solid choice if you want fewer crowds. You can also try paddleboarding, which has become increasingly popular in the area. Rentals are available near the beach, and calmer morning waters are best for beginners.

After time on the beach, grab seafood at one of Tybee’s casual restaurants before heading back to the city.

Staying Cool in the Savannah Heat

June in Savannah can be hot and humid, so planning cooler activities is important.

The Mercer-Williams House Museum is a great indoor stop with rich history and air conditioning. Guided tours provide insight into Savannah’s past and architecture. Evening ghost tours are another smart option. They let you explore the city after the sun goes down, when temperatures are more comfortable.

Air-conditioned breweries, like Service Brewing Company, around the city offer a refreshing break. Many have indoor seating, local beers, and relaxed atmospheres.

The SCAD Museum of Art is another excellent indoor activity. It features rotating exhibits and modern artwork in a cool, quiet setting.

Mixing indoor stops with outdoor plans helps you enjoy Savannah without feeling overwhelmed by the heat.
